The Government of Pakistan has launched the Prime Minister’s Youth Chromebook Scheme 2026 to improve access to digital education and technology for students. Under the initiative, 500,000 Chromebooks and internet connectivity devices are planned for distribution to eligible students across the country over two years.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif formally launched the scheme on 25 October 2026. The initiative is intended to help students access online learning, digital educational resources and research opportunities.
Students and parents should understand one important point: not every student can register independently. The official registration portal checks student details against the eligibility list provided by the relevant education board.
Scheme: Prime Minister’s Youth Chromebook Scheme
Year: 2026
Announced by: Government of Pakistan
Implementing registration authority: Inter Boards Coordination Commission (IBCC)
Total planned Chromebooks: 500,000
Distribution period: Two years
Eligible student groups: As specified by the official IBCC eligibility criteria
Registration portal: https://pmychromebooks.ibcc.edu.pk/
Selection method: Board-based academic merit and verification
According to the official IBCC registration portal, eligibility depends on the student's education board and examination category.
For these provincial boards, the scheme considers top-performing Grade 9 students (SSC-I) from government schools based on the Annual Examinations 2026.
For the boards of Islamabad Capital Territory, Azad Jammu and Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan, the official portal includes top-performing students from both:
Grade 9 (SSC-I)
Grade 10 (SSC-II)
These students must also be enrolled in government schools and meet the relevant board-based selection requirements.
The official IBCC portal currently states that only students enrolled in government schools are eligible under its published criteria. Students from private schools should not assume they qualify.
The portal does not publish one universal minimum marks percentage for all boards. Students should check their board's eligible-student list and follow the applicable instructions.
Eligible students can use the official IBCC registration portal to find their academic record and complete the required process.
Follow these steps:
Visit the official Prime Minister's Youth Chromebook Scheme portal:
https://pmychromebooks.ibcc.edu.pk/
Choose the relevant board from the available list on the registration website.
Enter one of the identification numbers requested by the portal:
CNIC or B-Form number
Examination roll number
Registration number
Enter the number without dashes, as instructed on the portal, and provide the student's date of birth.
Select the option to find your record. The portal checks the submitted information against the student list provided by the relevant education board.
Carefully review your name, school and examination details. Make sure the displayed information matches your official academic records.
Upload the photograph, examination marks sheet and attested identification documents in the accepted file formats and sizes.
Review the application carefully before submitting. Save the reference number and download the submission slip for future use.
Important: The official portal states that each student can apply once. Submitted information cannot be changed independently, so check everything before final submission.
Students should prepare the following documents before starting the online process.
| Document | Official portal instructions |
|---|---|
| Recent photograph | Colour photograph, front-facing, plain background |
| Marks sheet | SSC-I or SSC-II marks sheet, as applicable |
| Student identification | Attested B-Form or CNIC copy |
| Father's/guardian's identification | Attested CNIC copy |
The official portal specifies the following requirements:
Photograph: JPG or PNG, up to 300 KB.
Marks sheet: JPG, PNG or PDF, up to 300 KB.
Student B-Form/CNIC: JPG, PNG or PDF, up to 300 KB.
Father's or guardian's CNIC: JPG, PNG or PDF, up to 300 KB.
Ensure that all uploaded documents are clear and readable.
If the registration portal cannot find your record, try entering your examination roll number or registration number instead of your CNIC or B-Form number.
If the record still does not appear:
Check that you selected the correct education board.
Confirm your date of birth and identification details.
Contact your school administration or relevant education board.
Follow any additional instructions issued by your board.
Do not submit false information or attempt to register using another student's details. The official portal warns that incorrect information can cancel a Chromebook allocation and may lead to further action.
There is no single nationwide registration deadline displayed on the IBCC portal. Students should follow the latest instructions issued by their own education boards.
For example, the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education Multan published a notice asking eligible Grade 9 students to complete registration by 19 October 2026. That date has already passed as of 30 October 2026.
Students from other boards should check their respective board websites for current registration status and any revised instructions.
The official IBCC portal also states that registration for students of Sindh will open after all Sindh examination boards announce their Grade 9 Annual Examination 2026 results.
The federal government has announced a target of 500,000 Chromebooks over two years. The initiative also includes internet connectivity devices to help students access digital learning resources.
The government says the programme is intended to support talented students and improve access to technology-based education.
However, students should understand that the announced total does not guarantee a Chromebook for every applicant. Distribution depends on the applicable eligibility criteria, academic records and verification process.
Students should use the official IBCC portal for checking their records and completing registration:
